MAJOR INQUIRES ONLY PLEASE!In 1997, Fender launched an extremely restricted number of the Noel Redding Signature basses. They only made 1000 of these stunning collectors pieces ever. The serial numbers were hand stamped in gold foil onto the back of the headstock instead of the usual methods of either a water slide decal to the headstock or stamped into the neck plate where the neck signs up with the body. This bass is stamped number 250 of that run of only 1000 basses worldwide. When Fender initially came close to Noel about the project, he 'd already offered his precious Jazz that he played in the Jimi Hendrix Experience to collector Bob Terry for $10,000. Noel called Bob and they got the bass back to copy everything exactly. Fender eventually sent out Noel the prototype for approval and he was estimated in job interview saying: "It was exactly the exact same as my initial bass. They did a dazzling job". The bass was then revealed at the 1997 NAMM Show in Anaheim, and Noel was at the stand to introduce his Signature Bass. Joe Carducci from Fender persuaded Noel to do a few autographs and put a whole batch of tortoise-shell choice guards before him. That's another reason this bass is unique. Artist Signature Series basses typically have the signature as a printed or water-slide decal (which's also the case with this bass) however this bass brings Noel's real trademark too! Noel made use of a dry marker pen on the pick guard and it's an authentic signature - not a print. Also it is alleged that although Carducci returned the next day to the NAMM show and got another 2 and a half hours with Noel that not all of the choice guards were signed. So there are some of the already little run that didn't get his trademark like the example for sale right here does. Regretfully Noel died in 2003 so the value of his autograph will just increase. This is a painstakingly precise reissue of a pre-CBS 1964 Fender Jazz. Everything has been matched and copied exactly. It's much like the pre-CBS designs with the exact same neck profile, 20 frets, 2 volume and one tone pot, maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and stunning alder body. They even copied the thinner fret-wire used in duration and replicated the reverse tuners that were utilized on Fenders in the 1960's. Includes the much demanded red label "chainsaw" molded Fender case.
